Commercial Portraits
Commercial portraits should...
- make us want to buy the magazine and/or products
- make us want to read more about the person and/or products on the cover
- express the viewpoint of the magazine, not the photographer
- use composition to allow for the magazine title and other text
- use lighting, color, and contrast that fits with the style and brand of the magazine
Examples:
I like that these portraits are very transparent about what it is they are trying to sell to express. For example, the first image is supposed to portray politics and the second photos was taken to sell a makeup brand or product.
