Surrealism - a 20th-century avant-garde movement in art and literature which sought to release the creative potential of the unconscious mind, for example by the irrational juxtaposition of images.

These images have surreal qualities because they illustrate false perceptions of reality that one may see in a dream. They also incorporate objects and ideas that one wouldn't normally associate as being even remotely related to each other, yet these photographers combine them to create a space where these seemingly opposite objects or ideas can coexist.
